Description: The Associação Hutukara was established in 2004 by the Yanomami community with the mission to defend the population's rights and to strengthen the indigenous community. The Yanomami people are located in the north of the state of Roraima and Amazonas, Brasil, but also live in Venezuela, and have an extensive binational territory. Hutukara means "sky," culturally signifying that which gave birth to the earth and allows the Yanomami to live and sustain themselves alongside the forest and the rivers. The Association has its heaquarters in Boa Vista, the capital of the state of Roraima, where they promote the sale of nets, baskets, and other artisanal goods made by the Yanomami. You can find product listings with prices and contact information on their web page (http://www.hutukara.org/index.php/artesanato).
