Description: The Calleria Native Community is part of the Communal Association of Certified Wood Producers (PROMACER), an association of six Shipibo Conibo native communities in the Ucayali region of Peru, who have been trained to handle the extraction of timber from their forests sustainably, and who use the association to reach supply levels commesurate with local demand without compromising the ecological stability of their forests. The Calleria Native Community has been managing its forest for over 10 years. They have a General Forest Management Plan that was approved in 2003 and is valid until 2023. They conduct an annual forestry census with the technical support of AIDER, in order to posteriorly develop an Annual Work Plan subject to approval. After the approval of the AWP, a communal assembly takes place where the approved logging volumes are divided up among all the families in the community, so that everyone has the same amount of wood to profit from. AIDER provides the necessary technical support to ensure the wood's traceability and compliance with the principles and criteria of the FSC voluntary forest certification.
