Description: Beekeeping developed as a sustainable economic alternative for indigenous peoples living in the Xingu Indigenous Park. The honey from the European honey bee (Apis mellifera) of Xingu is certified organic by the Biodynamic Institute and was the first indigenous product to obtain certification by the Federal Inspection Service of the Ministry of Agriculture (SIF) in Brazil. Honey of the Xingu Indians is sold by the Pão de Açucar network.
